Existing-home prices fall for 1st time in 11 years
WASHINGTON -- The collapsing U.S. housing market crossed another
milestone in August, as the median sales price of existing homes fell
for the first time in 11 years and for just the sixth time in the past
38 years, the National Association of Realtors said Monday.

'Lights' case against tobacco firms certified as class action
LOS ANGELES -- A federal judge paved the way for a jury trial against
big tobacco on Monday, approving a class certification in a "lights"
case that charges cigarette makers with racketeering.

Oil recovers from 10-month low to close above $61-a-barrel level
SAN FRANCISCO -- The benchmark contract for crude futures recovered
from a 10-month low Monday to close above the $61-a-barrel level after
key petroleum producers voiced concerns over oil's recent price decline,
raising the prospect of an output cut.

Small amounts of liquids, gels to be allowed on aircraft
NEW YORK -- The Transportation Security Administration is relaxing a
six-week ban on liquids and gels in carry-on baggage on aircraft,
allowing passengers to bring on board up to three ounces of toiletries
as well as beverages purchased in secure areas of the airport, the
agency said Monday.
