U.S. stocks drift lower; Dow briefly tops record high close

NEW YORK -- U.S. stocks drifted lower Thursday as some investors chose
to lock in gains in a market where the S&P 500 Index is trading at
multi-year highs, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average briefly topped
its previous record closing high.
