U.S. stocks were rallying in morning trade Thursday, as rising crude oil
lifted the energy sector, while investors entered the fourth-quarter
earnings season with newfound optimism.

Futures Movers: Natural-gas prices fall as much as 4%; oil bounces off
20-mo. low

Natural-gas futures fell as much as 4% Thursday morning, losing ground
after a weekly government report showed that a fall in supplies of the
fuel met with most market expectations, but was well below the average
decline for this time of year.

U.S. stocks were mixed on Wednesday, with tumbling oil prices and a
profit-warning from Chevron Corp. weighing on the broad market, but with
technology shares again eking out some gains.

Bush readies call for more Iraq troops

President Bush, seeking to stem growing dissatisfaction with the Iraq
war, will present a case Wednesday night for boosting the number of U.S.
troops in Baghdad while putting the onus on Iraqis to quell growing
sectarian violence, a top administration official said.
