Ford Motor Co. will offer buyout packages of up to $140,000 to all of
the more than 75,000 workers at its U.S. plants, the United Auto Workers
union said yesterday, a day before the automaker details a revised
turnaround plan.

Major deals fail to lift Yahoo, Google

Shares of big Internet companies were trading mostly lower Thursday,
with some major deals announced after the close of trading Wednesday
failing to provide a jolt for bellwethers Google Inc., and Yahoo Inc.

Both the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index ($COMPQ) and Dow Jones
Internet Index (DJI_DJINET) opened the day on the negative side as well.
Each of the indices were down fractionally.
