NEW YORK
U.S. stocks finished lower on Friday and for the month of June, but
still posted a strong performance for the second quarter.

Regulators crack down on subprime-lending abuses

WASHINGTON
After years of abuse in the subprime mortgage marketplace, federal
regulators are cracking down on banks by issuing new rules Friday to
make sure borrowers get loans they can actually afford.

Stocks end lower in topsy-turvy session. Dow down 17 points at closing bell, Nasdaq and S&P off 0.2%.

General Mills Inc., maker of Cheerios cereal and Yoplait yogurt, said
Thursday fourth-quarter profit rose less than 1% as Big G cereals and
Nature Valley granola bars sales helped make up for rising grain and
marketing costs.

Oracle profit rises 23% on new software sales

SAN FRANCISCO
Oracle Corp. on Tuesday reported fiscal fourth-quarter profit rose 23%
from a year ago as the software giant recorded increased sales of new
software contracts and said it was gaining market share in key areas
from some of its top rivals.

NEW YORK
U.S. stocks finished a touch lower after a volatile session Tuesday, as
a slightly better-than-expected report on housing and deal news couldn't
offset concerns about interest rates, the subprime mortgage market and
hedge fund woes.

AT&T, Apple set price for iPhone plans

market, the Conference Board said Tuesday.

Economic Report: Home prices fall at fastest rate in 16 years

WASHINGTON
Home prices in 10 major U.S. cities dropped at the fastest pace in 16
years during the 12 months ending in April, according to Standard &
Poor's Case-Shiller home price index released Tuesday.
