U.S. stocks end lower; Dow tallies weekly loss of 0.4%

NEW YORK
Stocks fell sharply on Friday and also for the week, as enthusiasm
wilted under disappointing earnings from Google Inc. and Caterpillar
Inc., and anxiety about available credit for corporate buyouts.

The Fed: St. Louis Fed's Poole sees subprime woes likely as isolated

ST. LOUIS
The meltdown in the market for subprime mortgages should remain isolated
and not affect the broader financial system, St. Louis Fed President
William Poole says.
