Democrats win House; pair of cliff-hangers hold key to Senate

WASHINGTON
Washington and the world woke up Wednesday morning to a new political
reality: an energized Democratic party solidly in control of the House
of Representatives, and control of the Senate hanging on two races in
which Democrats hold narrow leads.

On Tuesday night, House and Senate Republicans paid for Bush’s hubris
as well as their own as voters ended 12 years of GOP rule in the House
and at least narrowed Republicans’ edge in an already narrowly divided
Senate.

EADS posts unexpected quarterly loss on A380 charges

Airbus parent and European defense giant EADS on Wednesday said it
slipped into the red in the third quarter, after problems with its A380
superjumbo program and a weak U.S. dollar ate into profit.
