U.S. STOCKS SLIP ON INTEREST-RATE WORRIES
U.S. stocks move lower on 2009's last day of trading, as
better-than-expected weekly unemployment data stoke worries about a
Federal Reserve rate hike.
BOND-FUND BUYERS REWARDED FOR RISK IN 2009
Much like shoppers spotting hidden gems in a discount store clothing
bin, corporate-bond bargain-hunters showed a real knack this year for
turning the overlooked into the envy of their peers, often spending
just pennies on the dollar to do so.
A YEAR OF HITS AMONG INVESTING MISSES
When you write about bad investments, a good year in the market means
it's tough to find Wall Street's dogs. It's hard to be a
misfortune-teller in a market where everything -- even bad moves --
seems to lead to happy endings.
