Energy stocks extend decline on bearish API data

Opening trades send the NYSE Arca Oil Index 0.3% lower to 1,072.9
points, extending Tuesday's retreat. But the index narrowed the loss
to just 0.1% as heavyweights Chevron and BP Plc turn positive.
