U.S. stock futures trade near Tuesday's lows

U.S. stock futures meander near the prior day's lowest levels as
traders await results from Alcoa to see if the aluminum giant can get
the market out of a recent rut.

SWISS BAR UBS FROM TURNING INFO OVER TO AMERICANS

The Swiss government says they will step in if necessary to bar its largest
bank, UBS, from handing over information on 52,000 account holders
demanded by U.S. authorities.

SWISS TAX FIGHT GATHERS MOMENTUM

The international game of chicken over Switzerland's bank secrecy laws
took another twist Wednesday. The Swiss government said it would block
UBS AG from handing over records of thousands of bank records to U.S.
authorities.

U.K. SETS OUT PLAN TO BEEF UP BANK REGULATORS

U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling announces plans to
beef up the powers of the country's financial regulators.

GLOBAL ECONOMY ON SLOW MEND, IMF SAYS

The global economy is on the mend but it would be premature to think
that policymakers can throw away the crutches that have aided the
recovery, says the International Monetary Fund.
