SEC OKs effort to limit short sales

Under pressure from lawmakers and financial institutions, the
Securities andExchange Commission aired five different proposals for
reinstating the uptick rule, a provision that would limit short
selling.

Pulte Homes on Wednesday says it's buying Centex in an all-stock deal
that will create the largest U.S. home builder.
