News Alert! Red Cross President Ousted Over Relationship

The American Red Cross has ousted its president, Mark Everson, after
learning that he had engaged in a "personal relationship" with a
subordinate employee.

It's poor journalism not make clear that there are two distinct Red Cross organizations. While the International Red Cross, based in Geneva, Switzerland, is overall beyond reproach, the American Red Cross has a checkered history. In addition to problems cited by the article, the tenure of Elizabeth Dole has been questioned, as well as the ARC's conduct, prior to 9/11, as a "blood merchant". By not distinguishing between the two Red Crosses, the article tars an innocent party.
