U.S. stocks rise after slew of data
NEW YORK
U.S. stocks rose modestly on Thursday, sending the Dow Jones Industrial
Average to another record close, as mostly upbeat economic data helped
offset a big earnings miss from General Motors Corp.
Buffett an unlikely bidder for family-controlled Dow Jones
SAN FRANCISCO
Warren Buffett probably won't bid for Dow Jones & Co. because the
billionaire investor tries to avoid overpaying for acquisitions and
rarely gets involved in competitive auctions, investors said ahead of
Berkshire Hathaway's annual meeting this weekend.
