U.S. stocks mixed after economic data

NEW YORK
U.S. stocks turned mixed on Tuesday, after a much stronger-than-expected
manufacturing report and a further weak indications on housing revived
concerns that inflationary pressures might prevent the Federal Reserve
from jolting a flagging economy by cutting interest rates.

April auto sales expected to be weakest in years

SAN FRANCISCO
Automakers are scheduled to report U.S. sales for April on Tuesday with
Ford Motor Co. expected to lead what some are calling one of the worst
months for the auto industry in years.
