U.S. stocks end session higher but fall on the week

NEW YORK
U.S. stocks ended a quiet pre-holiday session higher on Friday, even as
the market posted weekly losses, as investors saw weaker-than-expected
existing home sales as boosting chances that the Federal Reserve will
cut interest rates.

Economic Report: U.S. existing home sales drop to 4-year low in April

WASHINGTON
Resales of U.S. homes fell 2.6% in April to a seasonally adjusted
annualized rate of 5.99 million, the slowest pace in four years, the
National Association of Realtors said Friday.
