U.S. stocks end mixed; Dow sets new closing high

NEW YORK -- U.S. stocks closed mixed Tuesday, with investors awaiting
an upcoming Federal Reserve decision on interest rates, as the Dow Jones
Industrial Average set a new closing high amid strong gains for its
components DuPont, General Motors and Honeywell Inc.

Amazon.com profit falls by 37%; shares rise as sales up 24%

SAN FRANCISCO - Amazon.com Inc. late Tuesday reported third-quarter
profit plunged by more than a third, even though sales rose 24%, on the
cost of employee stock options and heavier spending on technology and
marketing.

Wal-Mart's international chief says 'no comment' on China deal

DuPont hits new yearly high after swinging to profit

NEW YORK -- DuPont swung to a better-than-expected profit in the third
quarter, as the 11th-straight quarter of higher prices and stronger
overseas sales outpaced rising raw material costs at the country's
second-largest chemical company.
