BP tries to siphon off spill, top hat awaits

BP mounts new efforts to slow down if not stanch the oil spill that
began on April 22, when the Deepwater Horizon rig sank about 50 miles
off the coast of Louisiana two days after a deadly explosion and
spectacular fire.
