Blue chips have 10,000 in sight as stocks rally

10,000 level, as bulls take encouragement from economic data and an outlook

JOBLESS CLAIMS FALL 20,000 TO 512,000

The number of people filing initial claims for state unemployment benefits
falls by 20,000 to a seasonally adjusted 512,000 in the week ending Oct. 31,
the Labor Department reports.

PRODUCTIVITY SOARS AT 9.5% PACE IN THIRD QUARTER

U.S. companies increase their output in the third quarter even as they slash
working hours, driving productivity up at a 9.5% annual rate in the quarter,
the Labor Department estimates.
