Disney shares jump on better-than-expected results
Shares of Walt Disney Co. made strong gains in early trading Wednesday
following the company's release of better-than-expected fiscal
second-quarter results.

Bank of America Corp. shares shook off a big pre-market drop Wednesday
morning, recovering as reports said the firm would
need more than $30 billion in new capital to comply with the
U.S.-administered "stress test," but it appears an existing government
investment can be applied to cover this.

Private-sector employment in the United States falls by 491,000 jobs
in April, the smallest decline since October, according to the ADP
employment index.
CAN AN EXPECTED PICK UP IN APRIL SALES LAST?
Bolstered by a timing shift in Easter, warmer weather and continued
pent-up demand, U.S. retailers' April sales are expected to pick up.
Still, the bigger question remains whether the worst is over for
consumer spending.
TREASURY WILL OWN AT LEAST HALF OF GM: SEC FILING
The U.S. Treasury Department will end up owning at least half of
General Motors and current common stock holders will be left with
roughly 1% of the embattled carmaker if a restructuring plan being
currently considered goes through.
