Week-to-week mortgage applications rise 11.3%: MBA
Last week's filings of mortgage applications rise a seasonally
adjusted 11.3% compared with the final week of February, as borrowers
jump on lower interest rates for fixed-rate mortgages, the Mortgage
Bankers Association's latest data show.

Troubled Swiss bank UBS says Wednesday that its 2008 net loss is 1.19
billion Swiss francs ($1.02 billion) wider than previously reported
due to its recent settlement with U.S. authorities and a write-down on
the value of assets being transferred to the Swiss National Bank.
SHORT INTEREST GAINED AS BIG NAME STOCKS FELL IN FEBRUARY
Short interest on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq rose
during the final two weeks of February, a period when stocks in some
of the country's largest companies fell sharply, according to the two
stock exchanges.
