Mr Bernanke's theory on Wall St versus Main Street is interesting. Initially, he thought that the crisis on Wall St is not replicated on Main St. The jobs data for today (Friday) indicates that both Main Street and Wall Street have a problem and he needs to act decisively to prevent recession.

Hi Padrepadre,

Thanks for the comment. I think you are right. As "U.S. stocks drop on jobs shock" and "U.S nonfarm payrolls drop by 4,000 in August" - the first such drop in nonfarm payrolls in nearly four years. Unfortunately, it hits Main Street now and... This undercuts optimism aout the economic outlook and makes a Bernanke's interest rate cut later this month much more likely.

Thanks again.
John
